A lot of people think of small global trinkets when they think of Pier 1 and justifiably so. Their stores are packed with colorful china, baskets, and textiles from around the world, meant to add spice to your décor. But Pier 1 is also a fantastic source for furniture basics, not found at lots of other common stores. I’m talking classic design staples like the ones you see on the pages of House & Home, but at a price, we can all swallow.
Pier 1 stores have catalogs where you can order the pieces you don’t see on their floor, and their website is a great way to check out all they have to offer. Just click on the Furniture Book tab to get started.
Allow me to walk you through some of my fave Pier 1 goodies.
When it comes to interesting and unusual occasional furniture, Pier 1 has you covered. This tribal looking Nairobi end table costs a mere $80 and would look amazing next to a sofa, or use a pair pulled together as a coffee table.
Consoles are often overlooked but this one should not be passed by! The Bellerose console has a classic decorator look and costs $170. Ummm can I order two?
My design editor buddy was killing herself looking for a rattan pouf like this one and it was right under our noses at Pier 1! Despite being named the Fat Stool, it does not come with a fat price — $150! Trust me when I say high-end designers love to use these as extra seating and as dynamic sculpture in their rooms these days.
